Band Members, Declan Chu (guitar), Danielle Pease (lead singer), Aaron St.Pierre (bass guitar), Twin, Kristen Veayo (guitar), Twin, Katherine Veayo (drums) Winthrop Area youth band, Fyve, which consists of five 14 year old kids have recently learned that they are a Northeast finalist in SchoolJam USA, a nation-wide teen band competition open to musicians from 13 to 18 years of age. Winners can receive great prizes while also benefiting their school’s music program. Each of the 10 finalists will receive prize money to purchase new gear—and so will their school’s music programs! In addition, the winning band will travel to Europe next March to perform at the 2010 SchoolJam Germany finals in Frankfurt.

For Fyve, the month of November is key to whether or not they continue in the competition and YOU can play a big role in getting the band to the next level.

On November 1st, the SchoolJam USA will provide and online site for people to vote for their favorite band. The site to go to is: www.schooljamusa.com where votes will be accepted from November 1st until December 5th for people to vote for their favorite band. You, your friends, family, classmates, teachers and anyone else cheering you on can vote once a day through December 5th. The rules are simple: the top two bands with the most votes from each of the five regions will compete at the finals in Anaheim, CA, at the NAMM Show on January 16th, 2010. At this youtube site you can see and listen to FYVE doing their thing at the School of Rock Concert held on September 19th. The kids performed live for a 25 minute set, 7 songs including 2 new originals! Fyve has more covers and original material to share in the very near future! The bands next gig will be a the Winthrop Mega Fest 09 on November 13 at Winthrop High School with Headstart Releasing a new album, followed by FYVE, Push to Talk and Terminal 12. The show will run from 6:30 pm until 9:00 pm. All the bands are Winthrop grown. Ticket will by $5 in advance or $7 at the door. Search Winthrop Mega Fest online to purchase advance tickets. Proceeds to benefit local clubs.

These kids are really great performers and all of the players are very serious about making a name for themselves in the music business. They are also committed to the band FYVE and are striving to make a name for the band around Maine and, hopefully, beyond.
