At the Strand, Saturday, December 19
Encore Screening: Tuesday, Dec 29 at 1pm.
Tony Award winner Bartlett Sher (South Pacific) directs this new production, returning after the triumph of his Met Barber of Seville (seen live in HD in the 2006-07 season). Offenbach’s fictionalized take on the life and loves of the German Romantic writer E.T.A. Hoffmann is a fascinating psychological journey. Met Music Director James Levine conducts star tenor Rolando Villazón in the tour-de-force title role, with Anna Netrebko as the tragic Antonia, Elīna Garanča as the ambiguous Nicklausse, and René Pape as the demonic four villains.

I looked into this matter and think that this is a movie in high
defination and is not a live performance. Hence the mix-up but if the
billing is wrong otherwise, like I say, this post came directly from
The Strand website. I don't research these venue postings beyone what
they tell me is true. I only post these listings in the hope that the
venue presents their listings correctly. Thanks for your
understanding.
