One of the big benefits of registering with GO MAINE is the Emergency Ride Home Guarantee. If you have a workday emergency, GO MAINE will provide you with a free (or reimbursed) taxi ride or rental car to get you home. It could be for an illness, family emergency, unscheduled overtime, or other unforeseen workday emergency, Think of it as “commuter insurance,” a little piece of mind for you. Another good reason to be a part of the GO MAINE Nation.  Check out the Emergency Ride Home Guarantee video on YouTube.

LL Bean: A Leader in the Outdoors and Commuter Options

L.L. Bean, one of Maine’s largest and most recognizable employers, is leading the way in alternative commuting options for its employees.

ECOBean (Employee Commuting Options) was created to encourage and reward employees who choose a cost effective and environmentally friendly mode of traveling to and from work. With support from GO MAINE, a carpool database was created to match participating employees. Participation exceeded L.L. Bean’s expectations, with 26% of all of their employees enrolled in ECOBEAN.

The L.L. Bean ECOBean program goes beyond carpools, however. They offer telecommuting, condensed workweeks, discounted home heating prices, and reserved parking spaces for carpoolers. Spokesperson Laurie Brooks stated, “As long as were still meeting quotas, why not? It’s better for the environment…” L.L. Bean’s innovatives commuter program has been recognized in the national magazine What Women Wear Daily. Kudos to our L.L. Bean friends! Read on to learn more about GO MAINE employer services.

Vanpooler Doug Hubley Enjoys a Good Book While He Commutes

commuter of the month december
Doug Hubley has been riding in a GO MAINE vanpool for 17 months; Van # 39, from Portland to Lewiston.

Why did Hubley join GO MAINE? “I wanted to save money and the life of my car, cut my carbon emissions… As a writer, I also wanted to gather the personal experience to be able to spread the word about vanpooling and GO MAINE. The van has enabled me to revive the voracious reading life I had as a teenager and young adult.” Congratulations Doug!

Visit GO MAINE to learn more about how you can save money on your commute, and catch up on some reading too! And watch the video of other commuters as they tell their stories.
