I just returned to Gardiner from a 3 day retreat visiting all of the Main Street towns and cities in Maine. It was great to chat with the other managers and get some idea’s about what they are doing around the state. All the citizens of Gardiner should be proud of the wonderful downtown we have as the other managers that had never been here were amazed at Water Street and the Waterfront.

I wholeheartedly agree with George that making Water Street a two-way road is ill conceived. As the owner of a restaurant on Water Street, I believe that we need to create more interest in and/or awareness of what is available in downtown Gardiner, but that two-way traffic on Water Street would be a disaster, especially in the winter.

There are a lot of great events happening in your back yard, here in downtown Gardiner. In the month of August we have Go Go Gardiner, a classic and custom car show/sock hop on Saturday the 7th. Then on Saturday the 28th is Barks in the Park, an event that will host rescue K-9 groups from around the area, vendors focused on finer things for your pooch and the state police doing a demonstration with their highly trained dogs. Feel free to give me a call if you have questions on either event.
